Foam board withstands everyday handling and provides the necessary support and stability for lightweight displays. To ensure the long life of the piece, the foam has been pretreated, so that it is acid-free and conforms to the archival standards used by museums. While malleable for easy cutting and mounting, the foam board retains its sturdy quality and does not warp over time.
This backboard consists of foam board reinforced with a sheets of melamine forming layers beneath and over the foam. The result is a more rigid board, suitable for supporting larger sized prints, without adding unnecessary bulk or weight. This board is also made with treated materials that conform to museum archival standards. The edges of the PVC board come in black or white.
Made of a special composite material consisting of two thin sheets of aluminum laminated to a hard plastic core. This means that it can withstand the effects of handling and crating, as well as conditions of extreme temperatures. Although lighter than plain aluminum, it will not bend or warp, but retains its shape and the smoothness of its surface. Dibond is the preferred choice for a floating frame, particularly when displaying a large sized print. The layers of the Dibond are visible in the edges of the board, adding character to the presentation of the work of art.
